Xi Jinping removes Galwan-era General Zhang Youxia from party and military posts

Chinese President Xi Jinping has removed General Zhang Youxia from his positions in the Communist Party and military hierarchy. Zhang, who served as Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission during the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, oversaw Chinese high-altitude military deployments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with India during that period.
The removal marks a significant personnel change in China's top military leadership. Zhang's role during the Galwan conflict, which resulted in casualties on both sides, made him a key figure in China's border strategy at that time.
