Aaditya Thackeray claims 5 lakh ghost voters in Mumbai; ECI attributes to duplicate entries

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has alleged the presence of approximately 5 lakh ghost voters in Mumbai's electoral register, raising concerns about the integrity of the voter roll.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has responded to the allegation, attributing the discrepancies to duplicate entries rather than fraudulent additions. The Commission stated that such duplications are common administrative issues in large electoral rolls and can arise during registration processes.
Thackeray's claim comes amid broader discussions on electoral transparency and voter authentication in the city. The ECI has indicated it is reviewing the electoral roll to identify and rectify any duplicate or erroneous entries to ensure the accuracy of voter data.
