Absconding Cop Linked to IRS Tax Records on Benami Assets, Senior Officers Named

Dismissed police constable Shailesh Patil, currently absconding in a gangrape case alongside former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar, has appeared in Income Tax Department records allegedly linking him to cash movements, extortion activities and benami property transactions involving senior IPS officers, bureaucrats and political figures, according to investigators.
The I-T records, accessed during searches at commercial premises of a politically connected builder in Mumbai and Nashik, reportedly contain transaction ledgers with entries involving Patil and individuals holding senior police and administrative positions. Investigators identified Patil as an alleged intermediary who collected and moved purported proceeds from illegal operations, parked funds in benami residential and land holdings, then transferred them into benami commercial properties and corporate entities linked to senior officials.
Several senior IPS-rank officers named in the tax dossiers are currently posted at Maharashtra Police headquarters or serve as commissioners in different cities and districts across Maharashtra. Sources indicated some of these officers feature in state lists for impending administrative transfers.
