Goat theft bid foiled in Beed after midnight chase; one arrested

Alert villagers and Georai police in Beed district foiled a goat theft attempt by an inter-district gang early on September 28. A farmer spotted suspects loading his goats into a white Maruti Suzuki Swift around 1 am at Belgaun Cross Road. Villagers gave chase after being alerted.

The suspects' getaway car collided head-on with a Toyota Fortuner during the pursuit, damaging both vehicles. Two accomplices fled in the darkness, but police apprehended Rahul Vasant Gade, a resident of Mahalakshmi in Nevasa tehsil, Ahilyanagar district. Three stolen goats and the vehicle, collectively valued at ₹4.45 lakh, were recovered.

Police said the suspects had removed registration plates and were disguised to avoid identification. All three suspects are from Nevasa tehsil in Ahilyanagar district.
