Beed Treasury Officer Named in ₹73-Crore Land Compensation Scam

District Treasury Officer Lahu Galgunde has been named as a suspect in the chargesheet filed in the ₹73.04-crore land acquisition compensation scam in Beed. Investigators allege that Galgunde authorised and signed for the disbursement of inflated compensation amounts into bank accounts of beneficiaries and middlemen. He has been absconding since the scam surfaced.
Former Beed District Collector Avinash Pathak remains the prime accused, charged with issuing 154 backdated and forged orders to inflate compensation claims up to ₹310 crore. Pathak has been denied relief by both the High Court and Sessions Court. Handwriting experts confirmed the fraudulent signatures belong to him.
The multi-crore fraud involves several officials, including five lawyers, two revenue assistants, and three contractual employees, according to investigators.
