Bhiwandi civic body orders fresh audit of dangerous buildings after collapse

Following the collapse of the Kohinoor building at Gangaram Wadi in Bhiwandi, the municipal corporation has launched a safety overhaul. BNCMC Commissioner Shrikrishna Panchal chaired an emergency review meeting and issued directives to strengthen public safety and civic infrastructure.
The Commissioner ordered a fresh structural audit of all buildings classified as C-1, C-2A and C-2B across the city. He expressed serious concern that the Kohinoor building had been categorised as C-2A before it collapsed, and warned that officers found negligent in classification would face departmental action.
Panchal stressed that public safety must remain the administration's top priority. Officials were instructed to reassess building conditions and submit comprehensive reports without delay.
