Bhiwandi Civic Chief Reviews Monsoon Preparedness, Orders Action on Unsafe Buildings

Bhiwandi's Municipal Corporation has intensified disaster management efforts as the southwest monsoon approaches. Municipal Commissioner Anmol Sagar chaired a review meeting on Wednesday, directing all civic departments to complete pre-monsoon work urgently to minimize risks during the rainy season.
Sagar ordered immediate structural surveys of deteriorated buildings across the city, classifying them as C-1 (extremely dangerous), C-2, or C-3. Residents in C-1 structures will be relocated, and utilities will be disconnected before legal action. The administration will also audit private schools and marriage halls for safety violations.
The civic body has been instructed to complete desilting of 86 internal drains spanning 50.269 km and cleaning stormwater drains covering 44.640 km. All open manholes must be secured, and garbage collection and repair equipment kept operational throughout monsoon. Fresh road-digging permissions have been restricted except in emergencies.
