16 BJP Corporators Booked for Assaulting Citizens and Journalists in Mira-Bhayandar
A controversy erupted during a general body meeting of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation when BJP corporators allegedly assaulted citizens and social activists seated in the spectator gallery. The incident escalated when journalists attempted to record videos of the altercation, and they too were reportedly subjected to assault by the corporators.
The confrontation was eventually de-escalated through intervention by police and security personnel. In protest against the incident, journalists staged a sit-in demonstration near the ground floor of the municipal building.
Following the altercation, a case has been registered against 16 BJP corporators at the Bhayandar police station. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
