BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde) clash over Navi Mumbai cluster redevelopment policy

A political confrontation between the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) erupted at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation General Body meeting over cluster redevelopment in CIDCO-developed colonies. The civic body passed a resolution seeking a review of the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) and temporarily suspended further action on the cluster proposal for Simplex Colony in Ghansoli.
Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, of the Shinde faction, has publicly opposed cluster redevelopment in CIDCO areas, citing infrastructure pressure concerns and objections to increased Floor Space Index (FSI). However, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's government had approved the increased FSI and cluster redevelopment policy. BJP Leader of the House Sagar Naik stated the party supported redevelopment but opposed blanket UDCPR implementation, warning it could strain Navi Mumbai's infrastructure.
The General Body resolved to send a representation to the state government requesting UDCPR reconsideration and decided to suspend cluster redevelopment action pending government decision.
