Bombay HC grants interim relief to PCI-approved pharmacy college against state ban

The Bombay High Court's Division Bench has granted ad interim relief to a pharmacy college that obtained approval from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The college had challenged Maharashtra's blanket ban on establishing new B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy institutions for 2026-2027 onwards.
The Court directed the relevant authorities to include the institution's name on the website and shortlist it for the central admission process rounds. The bench noted that the PCI had already inspected and approved the petitioner-institution. The substantive question of whether state authorities can impose such a blanket ban will be decided at the final hearing.
