CM Fadnavis Says Protests Disrupting Patient Care Unacceptable As Doctors End Strike

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said protests that disrupt patient care are inappropriate, following the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors' (MARD) decision to call off its indefinite strike. The strike had been called against the Maharashtra Medical Council's registration of Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology-qualified BHMS practitioners.
Fadnavis told reporters that the state government treats all doctors equally regardless of their medical system and has no intention of treating any unfairly. Doctors across major Mumbai hospitals including Sir JJ, KEM, Sion, Nair and Cooper had joined the agitation.
The Bombay High Court took suo motu cognisance of the matter, prompting the strike withdrawal. The strike had severely disrupted outpatient services across Mumbai's government hospitals on Wednesday, with OPD attendance dropping by nearly 50 per cent, though emergency services and ICUs continued uninterrupted.
