Congress Leader Nana Patole Calls BJP's Defection Push 'Operation Jackal'

Congress leader Nana Patole launched a sharp attack on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over what has been termed 'Operation Tiger' in Maharashtra. Patole dismissed the operation as a power-hungry manoeuvre, renaming it 'Operation Jackal', and alleged that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are acting beyond democratic limits.

Patole claimed the ruling alliance is dismantling the democratic framework by poaching elected representatives from other parties to display power. He also alleged that the Speaker functions only at the direction of Modi and Amit Shah, with no autonomy.

His remarks come amid political speculation in Maharashtra about a potential split in Shiv Sena (UBT), with reports suggesting that a section of the party's MPs may defect.
