Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Awarded Commonwealth Public Leadership Recognition at UK House of Lords

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde received the Commonwealth Public Leadership Recognition at an event in the UK House of Lords on Wednesday. The award, jointly organised by the UK Asian Business Council and Canvas for Care Creative Art Campus, recognised his governance initiatives during his tenure as Chief Minister, including the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana and Shasan Aplya Dari.
Addressing the gathering, Shinde said the Ladki Bahin scheme had empowered women's economic independence and credited his social outlook to witnessing hardships faced by his mother and wife. He described the award as recognition of the efforts and aspirations of Maharashtra's people and highlighted the state's infrastructure growth.
Shinde invited British businesses to invest in Maharashtra in sectors including fintech, green energy, green hydrogen, deep-tech, and skill development. He emphasised Mumbai and London's roles as major financial centres and their potential for collaboration, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for strengthening India-UK relations.
