Eknath Shinde Hospitalised After Health Scare; Doctors Say Deputy CM's Condition Stable

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane after suffering a sudden health setback following several days of an intense political and administrative schedule. Medical sources said he is under the observation of specialist doctors and his condition is stable.
According to party leaders, Shinde had been experiencing fever, fatigue and physical exhaustion during the ongoing state legislature session. Despite feeling unwell, he continued attending official responsibilities before doctors advised immediate hospitalisation for evaluation and treatment.
Shiv Sena leaders dismissed concerns over his health, saying the hospital admission was a precautionary step and that he is responding well to treatment. Doctors are carrying out routine medical examinations while closely monitoring his recovery.
The Deputy Chief Minister's hospitalisation comes after weeks of hectic political activity. Shinde has been leading several major organisational initiatives, including efforts to strengthen the Shiv Sena by inducting leaders from rival political camps. His packed schedule reportedly included multiple meetings, public programmes and frequent visits to New Delhi, contributing to physical exhaustion.
His illness also affected the party's planned political events. The induction of senior leader Shubhangi Patil into the Shiv Sena, originally scheduled to take place in Thane in Shinde's presence, had to be postponed after news of his hospitalisation emerged.
The joining ceremony was eventually held late at night under the leadership of Shiv Sena MP Dr Shrikant Shinde and other senior party functionaries. Patil, who had earlier contested the Nashik Graduates Constituency election as a Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate, formally joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena during the event.
Party sources said Shinde is expected to resume official duties only after receiving medical clearance, while leaders have appealed to supporters not to speculate about his health, assuring that there is no immediate cause for concern.
