Beed Farmers Demand Drought Declaration, Compensation in 'Halgi Bajao' Protest

Hundreds of farmers staged a massive 'Halgi Bajao' protest in front of the Beed District Collector's Office on Wednesday, demanding immediate drought declaration and compensation for crop losses. Organized by the Shetkari Hakka Morcha under Rajendra Amte's leadership, the protest called for government-conducted panchnamas of crop damage, ₹40,000 per acre compensation, and immediate release of pending crop insurance payments.
Farmers attributed severe crop damage to prolonged dry spells affecting the kharif season. Soybean, cotton and millet crops suffered extensive losses. Protesters carried dried soybean plants, damaged cotton and millet ears to demonstrate the severity. Farmers from 30-35 villages participated, raising slogans demanding drought declaration and crop insurance release.
