Mumbai Court Denies Bail to Jharkhand Man in ₹47.78 Lakh Credit Card Fraud

A Mumbai Sessions Court rejected bail for 23-year-old Izhar Ansari from Deoghar, Jharkhand, who was arrested for defrauding a complainant of ₹47.78 lakhs through credit card fraud. The accused allegedly changed the card's credentials and used it to purchase expensive items, including two mobile handsets, from online platforms.
The court noted in its order that cyber fraud cases present investigative challenges in identifying perpetrators. The complaint was filed by Najeeb Kadar, director of Liberty Oil Mills Limited, who received a call in April offering a credit card. After confirming his credentials, Kadar later discovered the card had been misused and blocked due to suspicious transactions.
Police arrested Ansari during investigation, alleging he was part of a larger syndicate. The prosecution claimed Ansari received two mobile phones purchased with the complainant's card and sold them for money. Ansari's defence denied his involvement in the fraud.
