Over 12,000 Ganesha Idols Immersed in Kalyan-Dombivli on Anant Chaturdashi

Kalyan-Dombivli marked the end of the Ganesh festival on Anant Chaturdashi with the immersion of 12,097 idols of Lord Ganesha across multiple sites. The process continued overnight and into Saturday morning, with thousands of devotees bidding farewell to their idols in a deeply devotional atmosphere.
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation coordinated the immersions, working alongside police, volunteers from social organisations and college students. Of the total idols, 9,322 were made of Plaster of Paris and 2,775 of Shadu clay. The civic body deployed medical teams, fire brigade personnel, ambulances and electricity arrangements at immersion sites.
The KDMC collected approximately 58.76 tonnes of nirmalya (floral offerings) on Anant Chaturdashi alone, with 203 tonnes gathered over the entire festival period. The collected waste was processed at composting facilities in Dombivli MIDC and by the municipal body.
