Kasba Ganpati Reaches Alka Chowk During Pune's Grand Visarjan Procession

Pune's grand Ganesh Visarjan procession progressed through the city on Friday as Kasba Ganpati, the first among the city's five most revered Ganesh mandals (Manache Paach), reached Alka Chowk around 2:40 pm. The ceremonial procession began at 9:30 am following traditional puja at the Lokmanya Tilak statue in Mandai.
Alka Chowk serves as a convergence point where four major immersion routes—Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, Kelkar Road and Kumthekar Road—meet. The Manache Paach are proceeding in traditional order: Kasba Ganpati, Tambdi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulshibaug and Kesariwada. More than 600 public Ganesh mandals are expected to participate across the major procession routes.
Police deployed approximately 10,000 personnel and over 3,500 cameras for security and monitoring. Traffic restrictions remain in effect across central Pune, with 17 major roads closed in phases. A 48-hour heavy vehicle ban is also in place to manage congestion.
