Civic Sense Drive Launched in Lokhandwala to Address Cleanliness, Parking, Safety

A civic awareness campaign has been launched in Lokhandwala, Andheri West, running from June 14 to June 20. The drive, titled "Our Lokhandwala. Our Responsibility," aims to enhance cleanliness, traffic discipline, and public safety in the popular shopping area through direct community participation.

The initiative, coordinated by the Lions Club SOL India and Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations with BMC support, focuses on three pillars: proper waste disposal, tackling parking congestion, and strengthening neighbourhood vigilance. Smart volunteers will be deployed daily between 5 pm and 8 pm to guide motorists and pedestrians.

Local corporator Sayali Kulkarni identified double parking as a major challenge and noted that a pilot "pay and park" project is being tested with local business participation.
