Maharashtra to Launch App-Based Ambulance Booking Platform Like Cab Services

Maharashtra's Transport Department is developing a digital platform to allow citizens to book ambulances through an app or website, similar to cab-booking services. The platform will display live location of ambulances, estimated arrival time, and service charges before booking.
The system will integrate ambulances registered with Regional Transport Offices, along with hospitals and private operators. Minimum medical facilities standards will be prescribed for vehicles on the platform. Officials emphasize the importance of rapid response during road accidents, particularly within the critical 'golden hour' following injury.
Currently, people rely on emergency helplines or individual private operators. This unified platform aims to reduce response time by consolidating services. The proposal is still in planning stages, with details on registration, standards and charges to be finalized.
