Maharashtra Approves ₹1,722 Crore Bandra Fort Connector To Ease Sea Link Traffic

Maharashtra has approved a 3.55-kilometre Bandra Fort Connector, a four-lane road to be built adjacent to Bandra Fort, to ease traffic congestion on routes to Taj Lands End, Bandra Fort and Pali Hill from the under-construction Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sea Link. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will execute the project at an estimated cost of ₹1,722.40 crore, including civil construction of ₹1,183.79 crore and allied provisions with GST.
The connector is designed to provide an alternative route for motorists entering Bandra West. Currently, the approximately 2.6km stretch from the Sea Link toll plaza to the Pali Hill area takes 20 to 30 minutes owing to heavy traffic on one-plus-one lane roads. The four-lane structure will increase road capacity and improve traffic movement in the congested area. Cabinet Minister Ashish Shelar, Guardian Minister for Mumbai Suburbs, had raised the demand for the connector's inclusion in the sea link project.
