Maharashtra ATS Detains Five Youths Over Anti-India Social Media Posts

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained five youths from Mumbra, Padgha in Thane and Palghar districts for questioning over alleged anti-India and provocative social media posts. One of the five was previously questioned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a radicalization investigation in Andhra Pradesh.
The ATS has seized mobile phones and other digital devices for forensic examination. The five youths were allegedly associated with a Telegram group since 2022, which preliminary investigation suggests was operated by someone from Kashmir. Investigators are examining group conversations to identify other members and determine the nature of the youths' interactions.
Among flagged posts was an alleged message stating Pakistan is safer than India. The agency is examining whether the posts represent personal views or attempts to influence others. The investigation is at a preliminary stage.
