Maharashtra approves 10% quota for former Agniveers in state jobs

Maharashtra has cleared a 10% quota for former Agniveers in state government jobs. The decision aims to recognize the training and discipline acquired by Agniveers during their military service.
The Agnipath scheme, launched by the Central government in 2022, recruits candidates aged 17.5 to 21 years for a four-year tenure in the Army, Navy and Air Force. During their service, Agniveers receive training in discipline, leadership, technical skills, disaster management, security and organisational processes.
The state quota is intended to support ex-Agniveers as they transition to civilian employment after completing their military contracts.
