Maharashtra Govt Hardens Stand on Maratha Reservation as Jarange Patil's Strike Continues

With Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil's indefinite hunger strike now in its 11th day, the Maharashtra government has taken a firmer stance on the community's demands. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that any reservation decision would be made strictly within constitutional and Supreme Court frameworks, and rejected the idea of reducing one community's reservation share to benefit another.
Fadnavis said the government remained open to dialogue but insisted decisions must remain within legal bounds. However, state minister and Maratha reservation sub-committee chairman Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil announced that government delegations would no longer visit Jarange for talks, asserting the administration had already made all permissible decisions and expected a positive response.
