Maharashtra Minorities Commission Investigates Borivali School Over Admission Denial Allegations

The Maharashtra State Minorities Commission has begun suo motu proceedings following allegations that Seth Gopalji Hemraj High School in Borivali denied admission to Muslim students based on religion. Commission member Wasim Burhan petitioned Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on June 15, seeking investigation into the Borivali Education Society-run institution's alleged discriminatory practices.
An anonymous staff member claimed all schools on the campus received oral instructions not to admit new Muslim students. The school clarified that complaints relate to Bhajanlal nursery school on the same campus. At least four students were reportedly affected. School counsel Jayesh Yagnik said the nursery section is separate and Class I admissions at R G Bagaria School are full, with responses already submitted to the education department.
