Maharashtra MLC Results: Mahayuti Wins 10 Seats, MVA Draws Blank in 11-Seat Battle

The ruling Mahayuti alliance delivered a dominant performance in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections from Local Authorities Constituencies, tightening its grip on the state’s political landscape with a near-clean sweep in the results declared for 11 contested seats on Monday. The voting, held on June 18, recorded an unusually high turnout of 99.02 percent, indicating strong participation from local representatives across regions.
Out of the 11 seats where elections were held, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the clear winner, securing 10 seats on its own. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena managed to win one seat, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi failed to open its account in this round. One independent candidate also managed to secure a seat, preventing a complete sweep.
The Mahayuti alliance had already strengthened its position even before polling began, with six candidates being elected unopposed across different constituencies. These included seats from Thane, Yavatmal, Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Pune, Wardha-Gadchiroli-Chandrapur and Ahilyanagar, reflecting the alliance’s strong organisational hold at the local body level.
Among the constituencies where voting took place, the BJP secured victories in key regions including Nagpur, Nanded, Bhandara-Gondia, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna, Jalgaon, Sangli-Satara, Solapur, Dharashiv-Latur-Beed and Amravati. The Shiv Sena registered a win in Parbhani-Hingoli, while Nashik saw an independent candidate emerging victorious.
The results highlight the Mahayuti alliance’s continued dominance in local authority-based electoral politics, particularly through the BJP’s strong performance across multiple regions. The opposition MVA, meanwhile, faced a significant setback as it failed to secure any seat in the contested constituencies.
