Maharashtra Plans ₹1 Land Rate For OBC Welfare Facilities, ₹300 Crore Support Package

The Maharashtra government has directed officials to make government-owned land available at a nominal ₹1 rate for facilities supporting the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community and students. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, chairing the OBC Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting at Mantralaya on Monday, issued directives to accelerate pending proposals and eliminate administrative delays in OBC welfare implementation.
Bawankule ordered departments to prioritise overseas scholarships for OBC students and directed submission of a ₹300-crore allocation proposal for Mahajyoti institute, hostel schemes, and VJNT/SBC initiatives. He mandated at least two proposals at each sub-committee meeting and insisted OBCs receive facilities matching those provided to other communities.
Forest Minister Ganesh Naik demanded immediate clearance of pending OBC vacancies in government services, while Food Minister Chhagan Bhujbal sought OBC Development Corporation facilities on par with the Annasaheb Patil Economic Backward Development Corporation.
