Maharashtra Excise Department Seizes ₹1.90 Crore Illegal Liquor on Mumbai-Nashik Highway

Maharashtra State Excise Department seized illegal liquor worth ₹1.90 crore, including a container truck valued at ₹27 lakh, during an operation on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway in Bhiwandi. The truck driver, Hanuman Mobta Ram (28), was arrested following the interception at Vadpe village.
The liquor was being transported from Goa to Udaipur, Rajasthan, in violation of excise regulations. Officials suspect the consignment was part of an organised interstate liquor smuggling network. The seizure was conducted under the guidance of Pradeep Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of State Excise, Thane Division, based on specific intelligence inputs.
