Malegaon court sentences man to death for rape and murder of 4-year-old girl

A Malegaon court has awarded the death sentence to a man convicted of raping and murdering a 4-year-old girl. The court characterised the crime as 'rarest of rare', a legal classification reserved for the most heinous offences.
The prosecution built its case by examining 24 witnesses during trial. The court's judgment, spanning 225 pages, detailed the evidence against the accused and the circumstances of the crime.
The death sentence represents the maximum punishment under Indian law. Such verdicts in cases involving violence against children often draw significant judicial scrutiny given the severity and nature of the offence.
