Man Arrested For Stabbing 60-Year-Old Step-Grandmother Over Property Row In Pune

A man identified as Omkar Kisan Shingore stabbed his 60-year-old step-grandmother, Mangal Baburao Shingore, to death in New Sangvi on Friday morning over a property dispute. The incident occurred around 9 am on October 9 at Kranti Chowk. Police said Omkar allegedly attacked Mangal with a sharp weapon while she was in the bathroom, stabbing her in the neck.
The dispute centred on a three-storey building constructed by Omkar's grandfather. Omkar and his father wanted to move into the building, but Mangal refused to allow them, instead occupying it herself. The building housed six tenants and generated approximately ₹50,000 in monthly rental income for Mangal, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Atole.
About 30 minutes after the attack, Omkar reportedly walked into Sangvi Police Station and informed officers that he had killed his step-grandmother. Police rushed to the residence and found Mangal severely injured. She was taken to Aundh District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Omkar has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
