MTDC to develop five-star resort in Tadoba, upgrade key properties across Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced plans to upgrade five prominent resorts through public-private partnerships. The state tourism authority has invited proposals to appoint independent experts to monitor multi-million-rupee upgrades at Tadoba, Mithbav, Mahabaleshwar, Matheran and Harihareshwar.
The upgrades include construction of a new five-star resort at Tadoba wildlife sanctuary across 25 hectares, with a 60-year concession period. Existing properties will be revamped as well: a four-star resort in Mahabaleshwar (60-year lease), and three-star resorts in Matheran, Mithbav and Harihareshwar (30-year leases).
MTDC is appointing a specialised consultancy firm as independent monitoring agency to ensure quality control and timely execution. Monitoring periods range from 24 months for Matheran and Mithbav to 60 months for Tadoba.
