Mumbai Police Bust ₹500 Crore Cyber Fraud Network Operating From Goa Villa

Mumbai Crime Branch has dismantled an international cyber fraud operation running from a luxury villa near Calangute Beach in Goa. Investigators estimate approximately ₹500 crore was routed through over 150 mule accounts within six months, with proceeds sent to Dubai and converted into USDT cryptocurrency.
The suspected presence of a key handler based in Sri Lanka has raised concerns about the island nation emerging as a new hub for such operations. The accused conducted digital arrest scams, WhatsApp display picture frauds, and APK file-based frauds. The villa, rented for around ₹1 lakh monthly for six to eight months, employed recruits who were offered fake garment business jobs and later trained for cyber fraud transactions. Commission rates of 3% plus monthly salaries of ₹25,000–₹30,000 were offered to operatives.
