Nashik MP Demands Action on Rising Leopard-Human Conflict

Dindori Lok Sabha MP Bhaskarrao Bhagare has urged the State Forest Department to take immediate action to address the rising leopard-human conflict in rural, tribal, and remote areas of Nashik district. Leopard sightings have increased significantly in Dindori, Peth, Surgana, Kalwan, Trimbakeshwar, Niphad, Chandwad, Sinnar, and surrounding regions, causing fear among farmers, labourers, and residents. The presence of leopards in agricultural fields and dense vegetation has led to livestock losses and threats to human life.
The MP has demanded that the Forest Department conduct surveys in leopard-prone villages and prepare a special action plan. He has called for strengthening rescue teams, using advanced technologies like camera traps and drones to monitor leopard movements, and establishing rescue units at the taluka level. Bhagare also sought a simplified compensation mechanism for victims of leopard attacks and stressed the need for large-scale awareness campaigns and safety training in rural areas.
