Five Deaths From Potholes Fuel Anger in Nashik; Officials Face Resignation Calls

Deteriorating road conditions in Nashik city, attributed to Kumbh Mela development projects, have claimed five lives and sparked intense public anger. Potholes and muddy roads have become hazardous, with residents demanding resignations of Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, and Kumbh Mela Minister Girish Mahajan.
Citizens report that pothole repairs by the Municipal Corporation fail within hours, with repair material washing away after light traffic. Social media videos document the problem, eroding public trust. Residents complain of vehicle damage, health issues including spinal disorders, and mounting medical bills from accidents.
Citizens have demanded the corporation bear repair and medical costs and establish a compensation cell. Failure to do so, they warn, should result in official resignations. Lawyer Ajinkya Gite acknowledged the historical significance of Kumbh Mela in Nashik while backing citizen concerns.
