Navi Mumbai ASI's Eight-Page Suicide Note Recovered; Family Alleges Police Harassment

An Assistant Police Sub-Inspector attached to Navi Mumbai Police's Special Branch died by suicide at a lodge in Mahape on Saturday. An eight-page suicide note was recovered from the trunk of his car parked near his residence in Airoli, police said. A small chit found in the officer's pocket indicated where the detailed note was located.
The note was immediately seized by police, sealed and sent for forensic examination. A video allegedly recorded by the deceased, which surfaced on social media, named three police personnel including senior officers in connection with alleged harassment.
The deceased's daughter, Vaishnavi Patil, said the family did not get an opportunity to read the suicide note as police took it into custody. She stated that colleagues later informed the family that her father had faced regular harassment, repeated threats of transfer and pressure to collect bribes from the named personnel.
