NGT Issues Notice To PMC, PMRDA Over Ramnadi Pollution Non-Compliance

The National Green Tribunal's Western Zone Bench in Pune has admitted an execution application filed by environmental activist Krunnal Ghaare, alleging that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and PMRDA have failed to comply with earlier orders to prevent Ramnadi pollution. Notices have been issued to PMC, PMRDA, Zilla Parishad and other authorities.
The application contends that despite a six-month deadline expiring, key directions remain unimplemented, including establishing drainage infrastructure in newly merged villages, providing sewage treatment facilities, and preventing untreated domestic wastewater from entering the river. The NGT has directed respondents to file reply affidavits within four weeks, with the matter posted for hearing on June 24.
