NHAI Strengthens Monsoon Preparedness on NH-48 Pune-Satara Stretch

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented comprehensive preparedness measures along the 141-km Pune–Satara section of National Highway 48 to ensure safe travel during the monsoon season. The authority has completed bituminous concrete overlay, pavement repairs and refreshed thermoplastic lane markings to enhance visibility in adverse weather.
Extensive cleaning and desilting of drains, culverts and bridges have been undertaken to prevent water accumulation and ensure efficient stormwater flow. Critical safety infrastructure including signboards, crash barriers and guardrails have been inspected and maintained, while tree pruning and vegetation clearance have been carried out at sensitive locations to reduce risks from falling branches and landslides.
NHAI has activated an Emergency Incident Management system across the corridor, equipped with 20 ambulances, five cranes, four route patrol vehicles and 12 fire stations to strengthen emergency response capabilities during heavy rainfall and weather-related disruptions.
