NIA Court Rejects Discharge Plea of Mudassir Ahmed in Amravati Pharmacist Murder

A special NIA court rejected the discharge plea of Mudassir Ahmed, who is accused of conducting surveillance before the murder of Amravati pharmacist Umesh Kolhe in June 2022. The court observed that Ahmed was not only aware of the conspiracy but actively participated in it alongside other accused.
Kolhe was killed on June 21, 2022, while returning home on his scooter. According to the prosecution, Ahmed and another accused named Sharukh conducted reconnaissance of the area, identified Kolhe's routine movements, and facilitated three men to execute the murder.
Ahmed's defence argued that phone calls cited by the NIA did not suggest a murder conspiracy, his mobile tower location was not near the crime spot, and CCTV footage did not show his involvement. The court, however, found his role crucial in the prior surveillance and planning of the murder.
