Patra Chawl Society Leases 23 Surplus Flats in Goregaon

The Goregaon Patra Chawl redevelopment project's Co-operative Housing Society has invited applications to lease 23 surplus two-bedroom flats. Each flat has a 650 sq ft carpet area and 117 sq ft balcony. The lease term is five years with a three-year lock-in period. The application deadline is October 11.
MHADA handed over these 23 units to the society as surplus housing to generate recurring income for maintenance and common expenses of the rehabilitated buildings. Local market rates for similar two-bedroom apartments in Goregaon range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 monthly, with the society expected to prioritize higher rental bids.
This leasing initiative follows the long-running Patra Chawl redevelopment spanning 47 acres. After residents vacated in 2007, developer complications delayed rehabilitation of 672 tenants until MHADA intervened and completed the work through a contractor.
