Pimpri-Chinchwad mandates treated water for gardens and construction sites

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued guidelines mandating the use of treated water for gardens and construction centres as part of water conservation measures. The directive aims to reduce consumption of fresh water during periods of scarcity.
Under the new rules, residents and commercial establishments using water for gardening and construction activities must switch to treated or recycled water sources. The move is part of the civic body's broader water management strategy to ensure sustainable supply across the city.
The regulations come as many Indian cities face recurring water shortages, particularly during dry seasons. By restricting potable water use for non-essential purposes, the corporation hopes to preserve supplies for domestic and critical needs.
