PM Modi may inaugurate Pune Metro Line 3 in September visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate Pune Metro Line 3 during a visit to the city in September, officials stated Tuesday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has invited the PM to formally open the line, though his schedule remains unconfirmed.

The 13-km section from Maan to R.K. Laxman Museum received provisional approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety on July 23, covering 12 stations between Hinjawadi and Balewadi. The line is operationally ready but awaits an official inauguration date.

When it opens, the connection could give commuters direct access between Hinjawadi IT hub and central Pune. The full Line 3 spans 23 km with 23 stations, running from Maan and Hinjawadi to District Court. The first phase was originally expected to open by July.
