PMC to Form Expert Panel for Pune's First Comprehensive Cultural Policy

The Pune Municipal Corporation will form a high-level committee to prepare a comprehensive cultural policy for the city, following directions by Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's guidance to formulate a dedicated cultural policy for Pune.
A 14-member panel comprising cultural sector experts, theatre organisations, artists, historians, folk art representatives, urban planners and PMC officials will draft the policy. The proposal will outline development of theatres, art galleries, heritage sites and cultural infrastructure, and explore a dedicated fund for cultural asset maintenance.
Following a recent incident at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir, the administration has been directed to introduce Standard Operating Procedures, a digital permission system and an online booking platform. A digital application named 'Rangyatra' will be launched for theatre bookings and event management across cultural venues.
