Pune Metro Line 3 Delayed by One Year Due to Engineering Challenges

The long-awaited Pune Metro Line 3, connecting Hinjawadi IT park with Shivajinagar, has faced significant delays despite multiple missed deadlines. Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL) CEO Anil Kumar Saini acknowledged a one-year delay but stated full operations would commence by year-end.

PITCMRL attributed the delays to unexpected engineering challenges, construction in densely populated areas, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, and pending station works. The metro line passes through residential, commercial, and highway areas, making construction more complex than initially anticipated. Officials contended the delay was proportionate to the challenges faced in the highly urbanized environment.
