Pune Municipal Corporation to Establish Dedicated CSR Cell for Transparent Fund Management

The Pune Municipal Corporation will establish a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility Cell to ensure effective and transparent management of CSR funds received from industries, institutions and donors. Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale said the civic administration has been directed to identify office space for the cell within eight days and appoint a nodal officer to oversee its operations.
Currently, the PMC lacks consolidated records of CSR funds, making systematic planning and utilisation difficult. Once operational, the cell will facilitate mobilisation and allocation of CSR funds for public health, education, municipal schools and civic initiatives. The cell will maintain detailed records of fund availability, utilisation and balance, and compile information on environmental compensation and penalty amounts collected by the civic body.
Bhimale stated the initiative will improve transparency in fund management and ensure effective utilisation for social welfare and infrastructure development projects across Pune.
