Pune Rural Police Bust Inter-District Dacoit Gang; ₹25 Lakh Recovered

The Pune Rural Police have arrested members of an inter-district dacoit gang responsible for armed robberies, highway thefts and house break-ins across Pune Rural and Ahilyanagar districts. The operation by the Local Crime Branch and Daund Police detected 20 serious offences and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹25 lakh.
The breakthrough followed a series of violent robberies reported over six months in the Daund, Baramati and Junnar divisions. The gang targeted isolated houses and travellers during late-night hours, assaulting victims and threatening them with weapons before robbing cash, jewellery, mobile phones and valuables.
The case gained urgency after an escalation on June 10, when armed robbers struck five locations in a single night, looting more than ₹7.10 lakh. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill formed six special investigation teams to examine crime patterns, analyse CCTV footage and question witnesses across a 50-kilometre radius.
