Pune to halt water supply every Thursday from mid-October

The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced plans to suspend water supply every Thursday starting October 15 as water availability remains constrained. The decision comes as storage levels at Khadakwasla dam, the primary source for Pune's water supply, have fallen below the seasonal average as of October 12.
The dam's reduced capacity is forcing the civic body to implement the weekly suspension to manage water distribution across the city. PMC officials attributed the shortfall to lower-than-usual inflows during the monsoon season.
Residents are advised to store adequate water ahead of the scheduled suspensions. The measure is expected to remain in effect until water levels at the dam improve.
