Pune police bust gang with China links in Rs 1.95-crore whale phishing fraud

Pune police have dismantled a cybercriminal gang with links to China that perpetrated a Rs 1.95-crore whale phishing fraud. The gang targeted high-value victims using sophisticated phishing techniques to compromise financial accounts and drain funds.

Wale phishing, also known as spear phishing, involves targeting specific individuals or organizations with fraudulent schemes designed to extract sensitive information or money. The arrested gang members operated a coordinated network to execute the scam across multiple victims.

The investigation revealed connections to China-based operatives who provided technical support and coordination for the illegal operation. Police are continuing their probe to identify additional suspects and recover funds from the victims.
