Pune youth beaten to death with baseball bat over dispute with friends

A 20-year-old youth, Harsh Machindra Jadhav, was allegedly beaten to death with a baseball bat by two to three assailants in Pune's Gokhalenagar area in the early hours of Wednesday. The attack occurred between 2:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. when Jadhav was sitting in an autorickshaw outside his residence. The assailants dragged him out and attacked him, with one blow striking his ear and causing severe bleeding. Residents found him injured and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment.
Police have identified two minor suspects who are currently absconding. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajnikanth Chilumula, the accused were close friends of the victim and the dispute allegedly arose over a common girlfriend. However, police indicated the matter had been previously settled. A few days before the incident, Jadhav and a friend had visited one of the accused's house and allegedly abused family members, escalating tensions.
