Raj and Uddhav Thackeray to lead joint march on October 4 over SIR

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray have announced a joint public march in Mumbai on October 4, 2026, to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The march will be organised under the banners of both parties, though Raj Thackeray stressed it would be a public movement aimed at raising concerns over the electoral roll revision process.
The two leaders alleged that the SIR exercise was being used to undermine the electoral process. They called on citizens to unite to protect democracy and the Constitution, appealing to people of Maharashtra to turn out in large numbers for the demonstration. Raj Thackeray said efforts would be made to engage all political parties to participate in the march, bringing together people from different sections of society.
The exact venue and timing of the march are yet to be announced, with organisers saying further details would be shared shortly.
