Retired Naval Commander's Laptop Bag Stolen in Oil-Leak Ruse; Recovered Within Hours
A retired senior Naval officer was targeted in a planned theft on Khairane Road in Navi Mumbai on October 3. Two youths signalled Commander Kamaljeet Singh Bhatti (Retd) about an alleged oil leak from his car. When he stopped to check, they fled with his laptop bag containing a laptop, mobile phone, diaries and important documents.
Bhatti immediately reported the incident to Turbhe police station. The stolen mobile phone inside the bag proved crucial—it enabled police to trace the bag's location. Constable Sachin Dhale of Rabale naka chowky found the bag abandoned and contacted Bhatti using vehicle registration details from inside it.
The laptop bag with all contents was returned to Bhatti the same evening. He commended Senior Police Inspector Sunil Dattatreya Shinde and the Turbhe police team, along with Rabale checkpoint staff for their swift response.
